The Understatement of The Year (The Ivy Years #3) Sarina Bowen 4.5/5

The Understatement of The Year (The Ivy Years #3) Sarina Bowen

Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Romance

Sensuality: 8

I saw this book a while back, and kept it on the kindle 'shelf'. To be completely honest, I was a bit intimidated to read this story due to the couple being of the same sex. I'm sure other readers have felt the exact same way, but I do not regret reading it. I was curious about how the author would attack this story.

This book is one of my favorites for 2016 so far. And I am kind of surprised. Countries like mine do not condone the gay lifestyle, but I empathize with the men and women that are afraid to love who they feel led to love. The story opened my mind about the issue of acceptance.

I felt for the characters. The characters felt real and their pain and confusion and frustrations were legit. Good job Bowen. The book made you sooooooo uncomfortable sometimes though (and not the gay love parts) but the interactions with the people in the main characters lives were sometimes hard and sweet to read. The amount of times I blushed.....I am sure my eyes welled up a couple times too! :)

If you are 100% uncomfortable with the gay lifestyle you may want to pass this one up. Because the author did not shy away at all when it came to the romantic moments. ;) It was downright HOT!

Hotter than some of the other books I've read from her actually. I walked away from the story hopeful about EVERYTHING!

I think you're gonna enjoy it.

4.5/5

Happy reading!
