Tempting Tatum by Kaylee Ryan
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Sensuality: 7
I did not enjoy this one that much. Ever read a book you weren't really feeling, but felt stubborn about finishing it? This was that kind of book. I pushed through my boredom to the end.
Even though I don't know how you could make a book about a hero that's a tattoo artist and firefighter boring. Such fabulous potential!
The book needed to be edited. The typos were not a big a problem for me though. The story read like a dictation somehow. Not natural. It was just not that interesting a read. The plot does catch your interest though.
It felt really corny, and it felt as if the author was trying to convince us about how perfect the hero and his family is.
It wasn't the best I've read this year so far, even though it wasn't the worse. I wouldn't advise purchasing it though.

I enjoyed this one a lot. It has my favorite type of
characters, which are broken ones that put themselves back together again.
I never got bored turning the page to see what the Gentry
boys were up to. The characters felt very real and relatable. The chemistry was
pretty good between both characters. But one thing amazes me with this book
though...
Do people honestly not mind others hearing them 'going at it'
in bed with someone else??? There is always some truth to these fiction books
right? I could never wrap my head around that, but it made for some funny
moments in the book. I actually want to buy the other books this fall for the
other brother's stories.
It's worth the read.

This one didn't do it for me. And for so many reasons.
Every single problem in the book seemed completely
avoidable. Too much miscommunication and assumptions. And the writing seemed
choppy to me. The first book was better than this one for sure.
There seemed to be a lot of holes in the storyline. It was not that believable. And the supporting characters made it worse somehow. It
could have been interesting if the author put the couple under a microscope.
Really get into their development...
I found myself skimming through most of it. Disappointed.

Clutch (Custom Culture #2) by Tess Oliver
Clutch (Custom Culture #2) by Tess Oliver

I mentioned that Clutch caught my interest in the first
book. Now..he lost it. :(
This book was not as good as the first one. (And the first one had some issues..) The sad thing is it
could have been a good one. Both had potential to be good books. Being the avid romance book reader that I am, I do not think
that any story line is over used. This one had a bit of a cliche story line,
but I still thought it could have been interesting.
I've read other reviewer's main problem with Clutch's story. I
agree with them all. The heroine was too young. And the author did paint her
character as an impulsive, whiny, childish person. Also, she was described as a
physically young (kind of under developed) woman. Not sure how I feel about
that.
I wish the author waited a couple more years for her
character. She could have made her grow up, finish college and become more self assured. It could have been interesting...
And the story had no conflict as well. I need at least a little bit of this.

Beautiful Broken Rules by Kimberly Lauren
Beautiful Broken Rules by Kimberly Lauren
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Romance
Sensuality: 8
It was different reading about a female heroine 'sewing her wild oats', or sleeping around. I like how it opened up the discussion of double standards when it comes to this area of sexuality. The author bluntly asked the question why is a woman called a slut if she has a high rate of turn over in her sexual relationships while guys on the other hand are given a break to some extent?
The book had some depth, and was not only about sex, sex, sex. I did feel some disconnect with the characters though. I didn't believe that the couple would make it in the end, even though it had a HEA ending.
It was a book with a new perspective for me. And It didn't hurt that the hero was a big football hunk. That's definitely a weakness for me these days.
They did a great job on the cover too.
